Zlatne grede

ZLATNE GREDE 31

A parterre house in the historicist style. The house’s layout is in the shape of the Cyrillic letter “Г”, with a wing on the right side of the courtyard. It was built in 1885 for Leopold Guka, based on a design by builder Franz Lichtner. During the first decade of the 20th century, a renovation was carried out, and the facade was modernized with new windows. However, original historicist elements have been preserved on the house, such as composite pilasters and a dense row of ornate consoles on the attic parapet.

The pedestrian entrance, raised by two stone steps, is placed at the left corner. From there, an entrance leads into the apartment. The transom light is made of colored glass, and above the entrance opening is a medallion with a human mask. To the right of the entrance is one three-wing window and two double-wing windows. Around the openings is shallow plasterwork with a geometric motif. The basement is vaulted with a semi-circular vault. The original woodwork has been preserved.
