ŽELEZNIČKA 10
The paired house in Železnička Street was designed by Anton Tikmajer in 1902.

Although the executed building did not fully correspond to the original plans, it represents an interesting example of residential architecture from the early 20th century.

The house was built on a deep and narrow plot with an open space on the right side, which resulted in an unusual architectural solution.

The main façade features four windows set along the regulatory line.

On the right side is an elevated entrance, above which a decorative Baroque-style gable with a relief frame stands out.

The façade is plastered and modestly ornamented, while segmental and triangular pediments above the windows emphasize the symmetry and verticality of the composition.

Over time, the interior layout has undergone several modifications, with some partition walls altered compared to the original design.

From 1922 to 1942, the house was home to the well-known Novi Sad lawyer and president of the Sokol Association, Ignjat Pavlas, to whom a commemorative plaque has now been dedicated on the building.

Until recently, it housed the NIP “Politika” Novi Sad branch.

Today, the building has been renovated and is home to the Macchiato Kuća – Boutique Macchiato House.
